The Forth Bridges Rally

This is the first navigational rally of the year that the Club is planning a large entry for and it is set to be a truly epic one. The cross-county route is some 180 competitive miles along the stunning roads around Edinburgh and in Fife and, of course, across the magnificent Forth Road Bridge. This event will be spectacular.

The rally takes place on Saturday 8th November starting and finishing at Port Edgar under the Forth Bridge, with the programme commencing at 4pm and the rally set to go on until 3am Sunday morning.

The club is looking for entrants to drive, if you have your own car, or navigate if you don’t. Don’t worry if you’ve never taken part in a navigational rally before because the Club will provide all the training you’ll need through Ewan Leeming’s superb Rally School sometime next week, and we look to enter crews with a mixture of beginners and some of us more experienced oldies so you should feel nothing but pure enjoyment on the night.

The entrance fee for us students and any petrol used getting there and back, is completely refunded by the club, so no excuses not to enter!

As well as competitors, an event like this needs plenty of marshals to run smoothly and be enjoyable to all, so the Club is also calling on volunteers to assist in this area. Such a contribution would be a massive favour to the club and all the other competitors at the event and the favour will not be forgotten by the committee, so please consider volunteering for this.

If you are interested in taking part in any of the capacities above then please e-mail Bruce Holborn on b.r.holborn@sms.ed.ac.uk giving details of how you would like to take part and a contact telephone number. All entrants must be in by Saturday 1st November at the very latest so please get in touch quickly.Entrance forms will also be available at the Auld Hoose on Thursday night.

Please also take the time to join the EUMSC Facebook group as further details of the event will be going out through that.
