FAQ

Here you can find the answers to some of the questions most frequently asked about the club.

Q: Do I need a drivers license?

A: No. Most of the events we run and take part in do not require a drivers license.

Q: Is it really expensive to take part?

A: No. We get discounts on karting and get rebates from the University for karting and rallying. We have club owned vehicles for autotesting as well making joining EUMSC one of the most affordable ways to take part in motor-sport.

Q: Do I need a car?

A: No, there is no need for you to have a car and you can take part in everything without one. However, if you do have a car feel free to bring it along as this will allow you to compete as a driver in Navigational Rallies and can help get people to the karting rounds.

Q: Do I need any experience?

A: No, a large number of our members have had no motor-sport experience upon joining and quickly pick it up. Some of our members have gone from no experience one year to competing in the British Universities Karting Championship the next so don’t let having no experience put you off.

Q: Do you race bikes?

A: No, not at the moment. This is primarily because it is difficult and expensive to organise while there are no current members who take part in this kind of activity and people who do don’t join because we are not already doing it, creating a bit of a catch-22. If you are interested in this however and have a plan to make it work there is no reason why we cannot incorporate bike racing into the club events.

Q: How can I join?

A: Either come along to our stall at the freshers fair at the beginning of the year or attend any of our events or pub meetings (Thursdays, 8pm at Southsider) throughout the year to join.
